Up to four eggs are laid by females, which are then incubated for six weeks. In about three months, one or two young typically survive to fledge. These majestic birds have demonstrated the ability to endure periods of up to a week without sustenance, followed by consuming as much as 900 g (2.0 lb) of food in a single sitting.
