In most locations near the sights of Mongolia, you can find quite comfortable accommodation by local standards, at least in cities. But we are by no means saying that wherever you are, there will always be a luxury hotel. Prices depend on the period of the tourist season.
Nowadays, almost all travelers regularly use worldwide hotel booking platforms such as BOOKING, EXPEDIA, AIRBNB, and others. And each of them clearly informed the price, condition, location, and rates.
But it’s not really suitable for Mongolia if you’re going on outdoor expeditions. In any part of your trip, you will have options based on local standards, and this is more than reasonable. The main touristic period in Mongolia falls during the three months of summer.
And most tourist camps, guest houses, and resorts concentrate to open their doors only during this period, and the rest of the month is rather almost empty or closed.

In Ulaanbaatar, you can find all kinds of hotels depending on your requirements, ranging from comfortable guest houses to luxurious 5-star hotels. There are a lot of options here. Ulaanbaatar is the main city, and surprisingly almost half of the population lives here.

The most luxurious hotels: Blue Sky Hotel, Kempinsky, and Shangri-la Hotel.
4-star hotels: Ramada, Chinggis Khaan Hotel, Platinum Hotel

Hotels in provinces and countryside:
There are several hotels in each province center, and most of them are at less or equal to 3 stars and quite comfortable.
But not all of them are listed on online booking platforms, so you might want to double-check locals to see if there’s a better option in town. And, as a rule, most of them are located near the city center.
If you are looking for a budget option, you will always find local guest houses and hostels.
And next to the main attractions, such as the beauties of the Gobi, there are a large number of campsites, with traditional yurts and restaurants in the middle of the Gobi.
They can be a bit pricey during the tourist season but they deserve it. It has everything you need: a shower, a minibar, delicious food, and a great view of the surroundings.
Nomadic Homestay:
This is one of the must-try experiences when you are in Mongolia. By staying with a nomadic family, you can discover many of their traditions.
Get to know their way of life and how they herd their animals all year round, how they migrate from one place to another and taste their traditional handmade dairy products. The Mongolians are very friendly and you always learn something special from the nomadic families.
Nomadic Homestay can be different depending on where you are going to visit them and when. For example, most of the nomads of central Mongolia live in traditional yurts all year round, and in northern Mongolia, you can stay with the nomads of Darkhad who live in their wooden houses in winter, you can also visit nomadic Tuvans and nomadic Kazakh people who also live in log houses in winter and stay in their traditional yurts in summer.
And one of the unique homestay expeditions can be in the teepee of the nomadic Tsaatan people. The reindeer herders of Khuvsgul still maintain their ancient way of life and live in their traditional wigwam.
