Mongolia is a beautiful country with a rich culture and history. However, there are some things that tourists should avoid doing in order to have a safe and enjoyable visit. In this blog post, we will discuss what not to do in Mongolia!
Do not do this:
- Don’t stand on a threshold on Ger dwelling
- Don’t take the things left hand, take it right hand. This means not respecting people
- Don’t give a knife to someone it’s the reverse.
- Don’t throw water or milk into the fire. Fire is a sacred thing for us.
- Don’t wash your clothes in the river, and lake. We love our nature and we are nomad people
- Don’t touch the Head. It’s very rude in Mongolia. Some people will angry about this.
- Don’t walk over the /Deel/, or hat, belt, and uurga something that sacred items.
- Do not give money as a present. It is considered very rude.
- Do not take photos of people without asking first.
- Do not enter someone’s ger without being invited in.
Do this:
- Give presents to Nomadic People. Vodka or kids stationary etc
- Give something with both hands. It is respectful action
- Give some Khadag with presents. Khadag is the most respectful present to someone.
